Reviews the articles on this site

Ruzanna reads every article on this site before it is published. She is trained in psychological counselling — and she lives with panic attacks herself.

What she checks

Articles about panic are easy to write badly. A single careless sentence can frighten a person who is already frightened. So before anything goes live, it is read with three questions in mind:

She did not write these articles. They are prepared by the Haven team from open clinical sources; her part is to check them. That is why the line at the top of each article says “reviewed by”, not “written by”.

Her training

In 2021 Ruzanna completed a 260-hour professional retraining programme in psychological counselling at the Institute of Professional Competence Development in Moscow, which qualifies her to practise psychological counselling.

Being precise about what that is and isn’t. The qualification is not a clinical one. Ruzanna is not a doctor, not a psychotherapist and not a clinical psychologist. She does not diagnose, does not treat and does not prescribe. Where an article touches medicine — medication, tests, symptoms that may turn out not to be panic — it stays general and points you to a doctor. We would rather say this out loud than let anyone assume more than is true.

Her own experience

Ruzanna lives with panic attacks. That is, honestly, the reason Haven exists at all: the app is built around the one minute in which a person cannot read instructions and needs a single button and a voice that stays.

We mention it with her permission, and we mention it for one reason only — someone who has been through an attack reads these texts differently from someone who has only read about them. It is also the limit of what her experience proves: it makes her a careful reader, not a clinician.

What she does not do

Haven is psychoeducation and self-help, not medical care. See the Medical Disclaimer for where the line is, and the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data (short version: conversations are not stored on our servers).
